China is willing to strengthen communication with Iran and other relevant parties to help de-escalate the tensions in the Middle East, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Guo Jiakun said on Monday at a regular press briefing in Beijing.

Guo briefed the media on the current communication between China and Iran in regard to the current situation in the Middle East.

"I would like to emphasize that China has maintained communication with Iran on the current situation. A few days ago, Member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Minister of Foreign Affairs Wang Yi held a phone call with Iranian Foreign Minister Araghchi, and China is willing to strengthen communication with Iran and other relevant parties to continue to play a constructive role in promoting de-escalation of the situation," said Guo.
