A symposium was held in Beijing on Monday to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the National Security Law.

Representatives from more than 60 government departments attended the symposium to review the progress made in the 10 years since the law's enactment in 2015.

The law is seen as a key embodiment of the holistic approach to national security proposed by President Xi Jinping.

At the symposium, Xi's concept of a holistic approach to national security was emphasized as the guiding principle for strengthening legislation across all areas, at a time when the country is facing more complex internal and external challenges than ever before.

An official overseeing Hong Kong and Macao affairs highlighted the adoption of national security-related laws in the two special administrative regions.
