Chinese Premier Li Qiang on Wednesday called on the international community to take constructive actions to promote the stable development of the world economy.
Li made the remarks when addressing the opening of the 16th Annual Meeting of the New Champions, also known as the Summer Davos, in north China's Tianjin Municipality.
President of Ecuador Daniel Noboa, Prime Minister of Singapore Lawrence Wong, Prime Minister of Kyrgyzstan Adylbek Aleshovich Kasymaliev, Prime Minister of Senegal Ousmane Sonko, and Prime Minister of Vietnam Pham Minh Chinh were present at the event.
Themed "Entrepreneurship for a New Era," the event, running from Tuesday to Thursday, has attracted over 1,700 representative personages of various circles from more than 90 countries and regions.
The Chinese premier said that the international economic and trade landscape is undergoing a profound change. The global economic and trade system is becoming increasingly diverse, with the Global South rising rapidly, Li said, noting that while the growth of traditional trade is slowing down, emerging trade has grown against the odds.
Apart from impact on global institutions and multiplying regional collaborations, the world is also experiencing volatile declines of cross-border investment and growing risks of fragmented production and supply chains, Li added.
He called on the international community to hold a positive attitude and take constructive actions to embrace an universally beneficial and inclusive economic globalization, safeguard free trade and multilateralism, and promote the stable development of the world economy.
The premier called for resolving disputes and differences through equal consultations. He said that China is willing to make persistent efforts with other countries to consolidate the foundation of trust in international economic and trade cooperation.
The premier also stressed efforts to safeguard the common interests through mutually beneficial cooperation. He said that China will continue to actively participate in multilateral cooperation regarding Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, BRICS and G20, and advance high-quality Belt and Road cooperation.
The Chinese premier called for nurturing new cooperation for shared success. He said that China stands ready to further strengthen industrial coordination with other countries, make the pie of cooperation bigger, and share development fruits.
Li further said that China will continue to deepen its integration with the world market, and do what it can to support growth of the global economy.
Li noted that China's sustained breakthroughs and advances in innovation will inject fresh vitality into global development, helping overcome sluggish economic growth worldwide.
Li said the Chinese government will continue to foster a first-class business environment that is market-oriented, law-based, and internationalized, and always keep the doors wide open and warmly welcome businesses from all countries to invest and deepen their roots in China.
