The emblem of the World Humanoid Robot Games (WHRG) was unveiled at a press conference held on Monday in the host city of Beijing.

As the world's first comprehensive sports competition featuring humanoid robotics, the event will be held in Beijing from August 15 to 17.

The emblem of the games integrates technological and athletic elements, featuring a robot in dynamic motion composed of binary digits 0 and 1.

"The digits 0 and 1 are the foundational codes of the digital universe and the bridge connecting the real and virtual worlds. The robot in motion, formed by 0 and 1, represents cutting-edge digital technology and intelligent algorithms, while its dynamic posture embodies the competitive spirit in the arena," said Zhang Hua, director of the competition department of the Organizing Committee for the WHRG.

The games will be held at the National Stadium, or the Bird's Nest, and the National Speed Skating Oval, dubbed the Ice Ribbon, featuring both main and peripheral events.

The main events comprise three categories: competitive events, exhibition matches, and scenario-based events, covering a total of 19 disciplines. They will test the athletic and functional skills of robots in track and field, soccer, dance, material handling, and medical sorting, according to the list of the first batch of events announced by the Organizing Committee.

Peripheral events such as badminton, table tennis, and basketball will be mainly for entertainment and audience interaction.

The second batch of events and their rules, unveiled at the press conference, added five new events including martial arts and free combat.

So far, 30 top-tier robot teams from China, the United States, Brazil and other countries have completed the pre-registration for the football event.

The games will be co-hosted by the Beijing Municipal People's Government, China Media Group (CMG), the World Robot Cooperation Organization, and the International Council of RoboCup Asia-Pacific.

As a co-organizer, CMG will take this event as a leverage to establish broadcasting standards for robot competitions and an innovative promotional system, creating a world-class information sharing platform for comprehensive humanoid robot sports competition.

During the pre-event phase, CMG’s Beijing Station, one of the hosting parties, will organize offline activities for robot teams and oversee the robotic performance at the opening ceremony.
