Storyline

Seven Palestinians were killed and dozens injured in an Israeli airstrike on a residential building in the Al-Rimal neighborhood in Gaza City on Sunday evening.

The targeted building sits a few meters away from the China Global Television Network (CGTN) office in the city, where journalists were reporting as the bombing unfolded.

"Without any warning, we were shocked by the missile strike. We have had enough humiliation and suffering. We now work just to afford a bit of lentils. That's enough. Have mercy on us. We just want to live like other people. Here in Gaza, we are dying. There is nothing here but death; even the cemeteries are full," said Mahmoud Atallah, a survivor of the bombing.

Another eyewitness recounted the suddenness of the attack in the middle of a crowded civilian area.

"I was in the Al-Rimal neighborhood. It occurred without any prior warning, even though the area is densely populated and well known as a vibrant, civilian neighborhood," said Manar Bakir, the eyewitness.

The Palestinian death toll in the Gaza Strip has risen to 57,418, with 136,261 people injured since the conflict between Hamas and Israel erupted on October 7, 2023, said Gaza's health authorities on Sunday.

In the past 24 hours alone, Israeli attacks have killed at least 80 Palestinians and injured 304 others, according to the health authorities.
