1. SOUNDBITE (Uzbek, dubbed in English) Ozodbek Nazarbekov, Minister of Culture of Uzbekistan:
"Today numerous internal and external factors, through threatening solidarity between peoples, geopolitical rivalries, ideological divisions and competition over resources, information warfare and rapid pace of globalization, all give rise to serious concerns among the global community. New forms of negative phenomenon emerge across different regions, opposing grave threats to the spiritual and the moral future of humanity. In particular, the spread of harmful content on social media is weakening the moral fabric of our societies and fostering distrust among people. The prevalence of low-quality mass cultural product is eroding cultural identities, while deliberate attempts to undermine universal culture, the spiritual foundation of our society, are becoming increasingly widespread. We believe that confronting these threats requires a response not only at the national level, but also through close international corporation."
Uzbekistan's Minister of Culture Ozodbek Nazarbekov delivered a strong call for unity during the Global Civilization Dialogue Ministerial Meeting in Beijing on Thursday.
He warned that numerous internal and external factors, including regional conflicts, information warfare, and the negative influence of social media, are deepening global divisions and threatening solidarity among nations.
