The Meeting of the Council of the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Member States was held in Tianjin on Tuesday.

The meeting was presided over by Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, also a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, and attended by foreign ministers of other SCO member states and heads of SCO's permanent bodies.

At the beginning of the meeting, Wang thanked all parties for their strong support for the work of China's rotating presidency, and expressed his belief that with the joint efforts of all parties, this meeting will be successfully completed, the important consensus reached by leaders will be implemented, and a solid foundation will be laid for the SCO Tianjin summit.

China holds the rotating presidency of the SCO for 2024 to 2025 and is going to hold SCO Tianjin Summit from Aug. 31 to Sept. 1.

This meeting of the Council of the Ministers of Foreign Affairs aims at making political preparations for the summit. The parties focused on cooperation in various fields of the SCO and major international and regional issues, and signed a series of resolutions and documents.
