The Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) business forum, which opened in Beijing on Thursday, bolstered efforts to deepen practical cooperation among member states by releasing a research report on SCO supply chain development, which highlights significant achievements in regional supply chain collaboration.
According to the report, SCO member states have established a diversified and complementary supply chain system, achieving deep synergy across sectors including manufacturing, energy, agriculture, minerals, clean energy, and digital economy, thus driving high-quality regional economic growth.
Areas that SCO member states should prioritize to deepen practical cooperation include strengthening rules and foundations, building efficient facilities, optimizing the business environment, accelerating digital and green transitions, and enhancing risk early-warning mechanisms.
"SCO member countries should leverage their respective strengths and work together to build a secure, stable, and smooth industrial and supply chain system," said Li Qingshuang, vice president of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT).
The forum also featured discussions on various topics and business matchmaking events, during which attendees engaged in in-depth discussions on enhancing regional development cooperation through initiatives such as promoting energy green transition and boosting connectivity.
Attendees noted that the SCO serves as a valuable platform for member states, facilitating not only information sharing and the exchange of views but also advancing practical explorations in green infrastructure and emission reduction financing.
"We can see the real results, I believe it's going to many different areas right now, not only to the infrastructure projects, but we also see the big spike in the digital development projects. And I believe we're going to keep looking for more and more such cooperation," said Chyngyz Sherniyazov, chairman of the China-Eurasia Economic Committee under the Atameken National Chamber of Entrepreneurs of Kazakhstan.
