Storyline


China will ship a fleet of 31 pure electric mining trucks to Africa on Sunday for use in a copper mining project, marking the global rollout of its green mining solutions.

The mining trucks, provided by Breton Technology for an African branch of China 15th Metallurgical Construction Group, arrived at Taicang Port in east China's Jiangsu Province on Saturday. They are set to be loaded onto a vessel for shipment to Durban, South Africa, on Sunday evening.

The trucks will be deployed at an open-pit copper mine in Zambia.

"The overseas cooperation project between Breton and us is an open-pit copper mining site in Zambia. This shipment includes 31 vehicles, and as far as we know, it's also the first large-scale deployment of electric mining trucks at one go to a mining project in Africa. It will help further upgrade the local mining equipment," said Li Wenjie, chairman of the construction trade company in Africa of China 15th Metallurgical Construction Group.

In this project, Breton Technology is responsible for providing a zero-carbon mining robot system, which incorporates electric vehicles, autonomous driving, and clean energy technologies.

"In terms of smart technologies, automation, and robotics, we've equipped the vehicles with numerous sensors for our clients to make the whole vehicle smart.
