Typhoon Podul disrupted transportation and power systems after making its second landfall at Zhangpu County’s coast in east China's Fujian Province at 00:30 Thursday, according to meteorological reports.
At the time, Podul was classified as a severe tropical storm at the time of the latest landfall, with maximum sustained winds of 30 meters per second near its center.
The typhoon had first struck Taitung County in Taiwan at 13:10 Wednesday before intensifying and causing widespread damage in Zhangpu. Fallen trees rendered roads impassable, and multiple power facilities sustained significant damage.
In response, local emergency services deployed personnel to clear debris and restore electricity to affected homes and businesses.
