China will work to promote global cooperation on artificial intelligence (AI), jointly share opportunities of the AI era with the rest of the world, and jointly address risks and challenges with other countries, to promote healthy and orderly development of AI in a beneficial, safe and fair direction, the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC), China's top economic planner, said on Friday.
China published a set of guidelines earlier this week on deeply implementing the "AI Plus" initiative, which lays out a systemic approach to strengthen AI supportive infrastructure and accelerate the integration of AI technology across economic and social domains.
At a press conference in Beijing, officials from the NDRC said that China will encourage international application of domestically piloted and proven AI technologies and solutions to improve the people's livelihoods and boost industrial growth worldwide.
Efforts will be made to establish AI application cooperation centers and platforms to connect supply and demand, with a focus on efficient and pragmatic project implementation. China also plans to host international AI forums and competitions to foster open, fair and free academic and technical exchanges among global AI talents.
The NDRC also said that China will engage in friendly and equal consultations with other nations to accelerate the formation of a widely-accepted global governance framework and standards for AI.
