China's Dongfang Electric Corporation on Thursday officially inaugurated the world's first high-altitude hydropower generator research and manufacturing base in Nyingchi City, southwest China's Xizang Autonomous Region.
The launch marks a significant milestone in China's drive to advance hydropower technology capable of operating under extreme environmental conditions.
Spanning nearly 50,000 square meters, the facility includes a high-altitude sediment erosion test platform specifically designed for impulse turbines. This cutting-edge installation fills several key gaps in domestic technological capabilities and plays a vital role in supporting the independent development and engineering application of large-capacity, giant impulse hydropower units.
