Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu declared on Sunday that the U.S.-Israel alliance is "stronger than ever" as he visited Jerusalem alongside visiting U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio.
Rubio arrived in Israel on Sunday, and his only public appearance that day was a joint visit with Netanyahu to the Western Wall and its underground tunnels in the Old City of Jerusalem. While Rubio did not make public remarks, Netanyahu used the occasion to publicly emphasize the strength of the Israel-U.S. relationship.

Under President Trump, and Secretary Rubio, and their entire team, this alliance has never been stronger, and we deeply appreciate it," said Netanyahu.
According to his official schedule, Rubio is set to meet with Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Saar on Monday for further discussions.
Speaking to reporters before departing for Israel, Rubio said U.S. President Donald Trump was "not happy" about the Israeli strike in Qatar on Tuesday but that it would "not change the nature of our relationship with the Israelis." He added that the two countries would "have to talk about" the impact on prospects for a ceasefire, as well as key issues including ensuring the safe release of Israeli hostages, defeating Hamas, and ending the war in Gaza.
A statement from the U.S. State Department said Rubio's visit would include in-depth talks on Israel's "military objectives and concrete plans" in Gaza, aimed at aligning approaches between the two countries.
Israeli media reported that Rubio is also expected to discuss Israel's planned annexation of parts of the West Bank.
The visit comes as the humanitarian situation in Gaza continues to worsen. According to health authorities in Gaza, more than 64,000 people have been killed since Israel began its military campaign in October 2023, with much of the enclave reduced to rubble and famine spreading.
