Storyline

An Israeli airstrike destroyed a vital hospital belonging to a Palestinian medical charity in eastern Gaza Strip on Tuesday.

The six-story medical center of the Palestinian Medical Relief Society (PMRS) was one of the few original clinics left in Gaza.

The vital facility has been providing medical services to 700-1,000 patients every day, including primary support, women's health, mental and psychological health care, and trauma treatment. It also houses Gaza's largest medical laboratory.

Over the past three weeks alone, three other PMRS clinics throughout Gaza have been either struck or severely damaged, adding to the growing collapse of the health care services in the Strip.

"Since the day before yesterday, our medical centers have been directly targeted, first in the Al-Shati Camp and then the Medical Relief clinic in the Samer neighborhood. Today, another Medical Relief center in Tel al-Hawa was struck. Unfortunately, these attacks have destroyed all of our fixed medical centers in Gaza City, leading to a complete halt of health services," said Mohammed Abu Afesh, director of the Palestinian Medical Relief Society.

Across the Gaza Strip, the humanitarian situation continues to deteriorate, leaving people without access to care, help or any basis for safety.

"The bombing of the medical relief society has forced half of the neighborhood’s residents to flee. There is no longer life here, no medical center to care for people. As you can see, people are leaving the area after the health facility was struck," said Deeb Zaza, a displaced Palestinian.

"The society used to provide residents with water and healthcare. Now most people are leaving the area. The majority of Gaza’s residents are fleeing south in search of safety, and as you can see, our belongings are on the street and we cannot find any safe place," said Ahmad Al-Ramlawi, another Palestinian.

The Palestinian death toll in the Gaza Strip has risen to 65,502, with 167,376 injured since the Palestinian-Israeli conflict broke out in October 2023 according to Gaza's health authorities on Thursday.
