China is experiencing a tourism boom during the ongoing 8-day National Day and Mid-Autumn Festival holiday, which began on Wednesday, with major attractions seeing increased crowds.
In east China's Fujian Province, Taimu Mountain, a UNESCO Global Geopark, captivates tourists with its unique granite peaks and forest landscapes.
Taimu Mountain boasts an excellent ecological environment and a rich historical and cultural heritage, resulting in a diverse and unique scenic combination. This makes it an ideal destination for scientific research, education, sightseeing, and leisure, offering visitors a wide range of experiences.
China's megacity Shanghai saw a surge in visitor numbers at its major tourist attractions.
The Bund, one of the most iconic sites in the city, saw visitor flow exceeding 560,000 throughout Wednesday, up 21.8 percent year on year. At the same time, the bustling Nanjing Road pedestrian street recorded an over 12.8 percent year-on-year growth of visitors.
The waterfront area of the Bund saw its peak hourly foot traffic of the day at around 19:00 Wednesday evening.
Over the next few days, the Bund area is expected to continue experiencing heavy foot traffic, with visitors staying for longer periods.
In Handan City, north China's Hebei Province, a village attracted flocks of tourists with its sprawling fields of beautiful sunflowers, as well as local cuisine and art performances.
"The sea of flowers here is exceptionally beautiful and perfect for photos. I also enjoy the performances and delicious food. At night, you can stay at the starlit guesthouse -- it's absolutely stunning," said tourist Du Yuhua.
Ancient architectures and murals in north China's Shanxi Province have gained further popularity, fueled by their frequent appearance in a blockbuster Chinese movie during the summer holiday.
Yong'an Temple in Datong City, Shanxi, was rebuilt in 1315 during the Yuan Dynasty in ancient China after the original structure was destroyed by fire. It attracted tourists with rare Yuan Dynasty murals depicting over 800 figures from various religious traditions.
"Yong'an Temple houses exceptionally valuable murals. My child is actually skilled at painting murals, so we came to admire the Yuan Dynasty architecture and these murals," said a tourist.
