China Media Group (CMG) will present an evening gala that blends ancient culture with advanced technology, airing on its TV channels and global platform for the Mid-Autumn Festival on Monday evening.

Celebrating one of the most important traditional Chinese festivals, the show will incorporate innovative narrative formats such as outdoor filming and micro-documentaries to enhance its audiovisual effects.

The gala will be filmed in southwest China's Sichuan Province in the city Deyang, home to the 3,000-year-old archaeological site of the Sanxingdui Ruins, which will feature heavily in the production.

The ruins are one of the world's most significant archaeological discoveries of the 20th century, renowned for unveiling clues about the brilliance and sophistication of early Chinese civilization.

Producers said the gala will strive to create conversation between the ancient Sanxingdui culture and the futuristic technology on today's horizons -- including humanoid robots.

"One of the performances of the gala will feature a dialogue between the ancient bronze mask, or the large bronze standing figure, and the humanoid robot which represents the technology of tomorrow, to bridge the past and the future," said Yang Qifang, chief writer of the gala.

In honor of the moon, harvest and family reunion, the Mid-Autumn Festival falls on the 15th day of the eighth month on the Chinese lunar calendar.

Every year the Chinese people celebrate the festival with family reunions and public gatherings featuring traditional ceremonies and performances, as well as spectacular TV shows.
