"China's competent authorities and we have stated China's position on the export control measures on rare earths for multiple times. The export control measures introduced by China are consistent with the common international practice and are aimed at better safeguarding world peace and regional stability, and fulfilling international obligations such as non-proliferation."

A Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman on Thursday reiterated China's stance on export controls on rare earths, saying they are consistent with common international practice.
Lin Jian, the spokesman, made the reiteration in response to a media query about U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent's criticism of China's export controls on rare earths a day earlier.
"China's competent authorities and we have stated China's position on the export control measures on rare earths for multiple times. The export control measures introduced by China are consistent with the common international practice and are aimed at better safeguarding world peace and regional stability, and fulfilling international obligations such as non-proliferation," Lin said.
