Storyline

China has recorded remarkable achievements in healthcare, education, elderly care and transportation during the 14th Five-Year Plan period (2021-2025), greatly improving people's well-being, according to official data.

In healthcare, the coverage rate of basic medical insurance has remained above 95 percent.

To ensure people have access to high-quality medical services closer to home, 114 national-level regional medical centers were established during the period, benefiting over 400 million people.

The average life expectancy has now reached 79 years, maintaining a trend of increasing by one year every five years since the 12th Five-Year Plan.

In education, the proportion of migrant workers' children attending public schools or receiving full government tuition coverage has risen to 97 percent, representing an increase of 11.2 percentage points from the end of the 13th Five-Year Plan.

China has implemented a national strategy to address its demographic aging.

By the end of 2024, the number of elderly care institutions and facilities nationwide reached 406,000.

Nearly 3,000 elderly-friendly communities have been established, and over 3 million seniors dine at dedicated elderly dining facilities every single day.

In transportation, China has built more than 10,000 kilometers of new high-speed railway over the past five years.

That's twice the total high-speed rail length of all other countries combined, making travel and express delivery more efficient than ever.
