Storyline

The death toll in the Gaza Strip has risen to 226 since the first phase of the ceasefire agreement between Hamas and Israel took effect, according to health authorities in Gaza on Saturday.

Over 590 have been reported injured, the statement added.

Since the conflict between Hamas and Israel erupted on Oct 7, 2023, the cumulative death toll in Gaza has exceeded 68,800 with over 170,000 wounded.

The first phase of the ceasefire agreement officially took effect on Oct 10. However, on Tuesday, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu ordered military action against Gaza, citing alleged violations of the ceasefire by Hamas.

Hamas has denied these claims and accused Israel of undermining the ceasefire with its military operations.

The media office in Gaza reported on Saturday that over the past 22 days, a total of 3,203 trucks entered the Gaza Strip, including 2,564 vehicles carrying humanitarian aids and 639 commercial trucks. The statement noted that the current deliveries represented only 24 percent of the agreed volume.
