2. SOUNDBITE (Chinese) Li Qiang, Chinese Premier:
"This certainty essentially boils down to two main aspects. First, the certainty of development. China will continue to prioritize economic development and focus on pursuing high-quality development. We will make greater efforts to expand domestic demand, especially to boost consumption, to fully unleash the potential of the mega market of 1.4 billion people. At the same time, we will move faster to foster and bolster new growth drivers in digital technology, green development, intelligence, and other sectors."

4. SOUNDBITE (Chinese) Li Qiang, Chinese Premier (starting with shot 3):
"Second, the certainty of opening up. China will firmly advance high-standard opening-up, steadily expand institutional opening-up, and introduce more measures for voluntary and unilateral opening-up. We will advance pilot projects to open up the telecommunications and health care sectors, and promote comprehensive trials and demonstrations for expanding opening up of the service sector."

China remains steadfast in pursuing high-quality development and advancing high-standard opening-up, Premier Li Qiang said in a keynote speech at the opening ceremony of the eighth China International Import Expo (CIIE) on Wednesday in Shanghai.
Addressing an audience of international attendees, Li highlighted the fresh certainty injected into China's social and economic development by a key political meeting held last month.
The 20th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) convened its fourth plenary session in Beijing from Oct 20 to 23.
Participants at this meeting deliberated over and adopted the Recommendations of the CPC Central Committee for Formulating the 15th Five-Year Plan (2026-2030) for Economic and Social Development, outlining top-level plans and strategic blueprints for China's national development over the next five years.
Li, in his speech at the ceremony, said the session has injected greater certainty into the country's socioeconomic development for the period ahead, which boils down to two main aspects.
"First, the certainty of development. China will continue to prioritize economic development and focus on pursuing high-quality development. We will make greater efforts to expand domestic demand, especially to boost consumption, to fully unleash the potential of the mega market of 1.4 billion people. At the same time, we will move faster to foster and bolster new growth drivers in digital technology, green development, intelligence, and other sectors," Li said.

China will firmly advance high-standard opening-up, steadily expand institutional opening-up, and introduce more measures for voluntary and unilateral opening-up. We will advance pilot projects to open up the telecommunications and health care sectors, and promote comprehensive trials and demonstrations for expanding opening up of the service sector," he said.
This year's CIIE, running until Nov 10, features the largest exhibition space in its history and brings together a record 4,108 enterprises from 138 countries and regions across the world.
Since its inception, the CIIE has stood as a vital gateway for foreign companies to tap new partnership opportunities with China, linking international enterprises with China's super-sized market.
