"I need to stress that Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi's wrongful remarks concerning Taiwan have fundamentally undermined the political foundation of China-Japan relations and aroused the indignation and condemnation of the Chinese people. China seriously urges the Japanese side to retract its erroneous remarks, stop making provocations on issues related to China, take concrete actions to admit mistakes and correct deviations, and safeguard the political foundation of bilateral ties between China and Japan. If Japan refuses to retract the remarks, and even goes further down the wrong path, China will have no choice but to take strict and resolute countermeasures. All consequences arising therefrom will be borne by the Japanese side."
