Since the Israel-Hamas ceasefire in the Gaza Strip took effect on October 10 with gunfire seeming to have ceased and hostilities subsided on the surface, it has failed to bring true peace to the war-torn Palestinian enclave as security risks and humanitarian crises continue to escalate in the region.
On Saturday which marks the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People, the Gaza Strip is still showing signs of similar developments in Lebanon and the Israeli-occupied West Bank, with Israeli military operations and settler attacks in the West Bank continuing to escalate.
Although the ceasefire is officially in place, the conflict continues to be turbulent on multiple fronts.
In the Gaza Strip, negotiations for the second phase of the ceasefire agreement have been delayed, yet Israeli airstrikes and attacks have never fully ceased, creating a security landscape where hostilities could resume at any moment.
Some analysts expressed concerns that Gaza's security situation may be heading toward a similar scenario in Lebanon where a ceasefire is maintained on the surface, but Israeli forces can launch strikes at will whenever they consider it is necessary.
Furthermore, Israeli forces continue to control areas east of the Yellow Line under the ceasefire.
Reports say that the U.S. and Israel are considering initiating reconstruction projects in the Israeli-controlled zones, which could establish a de facto partition and occupation regime in Gaza.
Should this arrangement become permanent rather than temporary, it risks replicating Israel's long-term and incremental occupation of the West Bank.
In the West Bank, the Israeli military has launched large-scale operations since early this year.
Concurrently, attacks by Israeli settlers against innocent local Palestinians in the West Bank have been on the rise.
These include assaults on civilians, arson attacks on homes and vehicles, the destruction of olive trees, and the sabotage of farmland and water and electricity infrastructure.
In the first ten months of 2025, nearly 1,500 recorded attacks occurred in the West Bank.
