"On December 2, Wang Yi, a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and director of the Office of the Central Commission for Foreign Affairs, co-chaired the 20th round of China-Russia strategic security consultation with Sergei Shoigu, secretary of the Security Council of the Russian Federation, and met with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov. The two sides conducted comprehensive and in-depth communication on bilateral relations and major issues involving the strategic security interests of both countries, reached new consensus, and strengthened strategic mutual trust. Both have agreed to fully implement the important consensus reached by the two heads of state and enhance China-Russia bilateral strategic coordination to higher quality."

China and Russia have reached new consensus on bilateral ties and major strategic issues, Foreign Ministry Spokesman Lin Jian said during a press briefing on Wednesday in Beijing.
Lin's remarks were in response to a media query regarding the visit to Russia made by Wang Yi, a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and director of the Office of the Central Commission for Foreign Affairs.
"On December 2, Wang Yi, a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and director of the Office of the Central Commission for Foreign Affairs, co-chaired the 20th round of China-Russia strategic security consultation with Sergei Shoigu, secretary of the Security Council of the Russian Federation, and met with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov. The two sides conducted comprehensive and in-depth communication on bilateral relations and major issues involving the strategic security interests of both countries, reached new consensus, and strengthened strategic mutual trust.
