The Ukrainian negotiators will hold talks with their U.S. counterparts in the U.S. state of Florida on Thursday local time, with an aim to obtain a full briefing on the recent negotiations between Russia and the United States in Moscow, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said on Thursday night.
"Ukraine is prepared for any possible developments, and of course, we will work as constructively as possible with all partners to ensure that peace is achieved," Zelensky said in a video address posted on social media.
Earlier on Thursday, the Ukrainian president confirmed that the head of Ukraine's negotiation team, secretary of the National Security and Defense Council Rustem Umerov, and Chief of the General Staff Andrii Hnatov had already departed for the United States.
According to U.S. media reports on Wednesday, U.S. presidential special envoy Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, son-in-law of President Donald Trump, are scheduled to meet with the Ukrainian delegation in Miami, Florida, on Thursday to brief the Ukrainian negotiators on their talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow two days prior.
Meanwhile, Russian media reported on Thursday that the Russian president disclosed some details of the Moscow talks in an interview. Putin spoke of the discussions positively but noted that Russia disagrees with certain clauses in the U.S.-proposed peace plan.
Putin said that the U.S. side had divided the key points of the peace plan into four parts and suggested discussing them separately, and the U.S. envoys are now currently engaged in shuttle diplomacy.
The Russian president also emphasized that Europe should be involved in resolving the Ukraine crisis, according to the media report.
