"China consistently opposes the politicization and instrumentalization of human rights issues, opposes the selective application of international law, and opposes interference in other countries' internal affairs under the pretext of human rights. China firmly supports Venezuela in safeguarding its sovereignty, security, and legitimate rights and interests, and firmly supports all countries in choosing their own paths of human rights development based on their national conditions. China is willing to work with the international community to jointly uphold the authority of international law, jointly advocate multilateralism, and jointly safeguard world peace and stability."

China firmly supports Venezuela in safeguarding its sovereignty and security as well as its legitimate rights and interests, said Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Mao Ning at a regular press briefing in Beijing on Thursday.
United Nations (UN) High Commissioner for Human Rights Volker Turk on Tuesday published a commentary in the British newspaper The Guardian, stating that the U.S. military strikes against Venezuela violated international law and the basic principles of the UN Charter, and criticized the U.S. manipulation of human rights, which is unacceptable.
On Wednesday, 16 special mechanisms of the UN Human Rights Council issued a joint statement strongly condemning the U.S. actions.
