Anger and grief are fueling ongoing protests in Minneapolis, the largest city in Minnesota, after a woman was shot dead by a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officer during an immigration enforcement operation on Wednesday.

The victim was later identified as Renee Nicole Good, a U.S. citizen.

Following the shooting, large crowds gathered near the site of the incident, holding banners. They also offered flowers and hand-written cards in remembrance of the victim. Demonstrators also chanted "No justice, no peace," demanding ICE to leave local neighborhoods and calling for an independent investigation into the shooting.

"Right now I'm feeling angry and an overwhelming sense of grief and frustration at the federal government that they're allowing and encouraging ICE's behavior that led to these tragic events today. And being around my community helps, but it also I think it energizes all of us as we like collectively grieve and also collectively organize against the federal government," said a protester.

Many protesters said that their anger goes beyond this single incident, slamming aggressive immigration enforcement that has left communities in fear.

"All our community is here because ICE is here and they're leaving blood all over our state, our country, our nation and we want ICE out. It feels like a third world country, I feel ashamed for the president that we elected. ICE has the right to work, but not to harass people, not to intimidate communities," said another protester.

Another group of protesters also gathered at a federal building in Minneapolis, where ICE officers are known to conduct immigration arrests.

There, demonstrators and law enforcement have faced off at close range, with tensions running high as federal vehicles attempt to move through crowds.

In a statement on X, the department said that the ICE officer "fired defensive shots," calling the woman one of the "violent rioters."

"The alleged perpetrator was hit and is deceased. The ICE officers who were hurt are expected to make full recoveries," the statement said.

The Trump administration recently deployed 2,000 federal agents and officers to the Minneapolis area amid alleged welfare fraud involving Somali residents.

La colère et le chagrin alimentent les manifestations à Minneapolis, la plus grande ville du Minnesota, aux États-Unis, après qu'une femme a été abattue par un agent de l'Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) lors d'une opération de contrôle de l'immigration mercredi.

Dans un communiqué publié sur X, le département a déclaré que l'agent de l'ICE avait "tiré des coups de feu défensifs", qualifiant la femme de l'une des "émeutières violentes".

"L’auteur présumé a été abattu et est décédé. Les agents de l’ICE blessés devraient se rétablir complètement", indique le communiqué.

L'administration Trump a récemment déployé 2 000 agents et officiers fédéraux dans la région de Minneapolis suite à des allégations de fraude aux prestations sociales impliquant des habitants somaliens.

　そこでは、抗議参加者と法執行機関が至近距離で対峙し、連邦政府の車両が群衆の中を通り抜けようとし、緊張が高まった。

　ICEはX（旧ツイッター）での声明で、同局職員が「防御的な発砲を行った」とし、死亡した女性を「暴力的な暴徒」の一人と呼んだ。

　「被疑者は被弾し死亡した。負傷したICE職員は全快すると見込まれる」と声明は述べた。

　今回の事件は、トランプ政権がソマリア系移民が関与しているとされる福祉詐欺の取り締まりに着手する中で起きた。関係筋によると、ミネアポリス地域に最多2000人の連邦捜査官が派遣される予定だ。
