Storyline

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on Tuesday that Russia remains committed to resolving the Ukraine crisis through political and diplomatic efforts, while Ukraine said on the same day that the country must receive clear, legally binding and effective security guarantees.

Russian Presidential Spokesman Peskov said that the schedule and venue for a new round of negotiations on the Ukraine crisis have not been finalized.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said on Tuesday that his country hopes for a lasting peace, but the peace agreement must be recognized by the Ukrainian people. Zelensky said that the new round of trilateral talks among Ukraine, Russia and the United States may be held within a week or 10 days.

The Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement on Tuesday that "Ukraine wants to end the war and restore peace on its land," and "Ukrainian people deserve a dignified peace and guaranteed security."

"Ukraine must receive clear, legally binding and effective security guarantees, backed by the resources and capabilities of its partners," said the statement.

It said that Ukraine's full integration into the military-political structures of the Euro-Atlantic space is a necessity for ensuring effective collective security and maintaining long-term peace in Europe and North America.
