"China always opposes unilateral sanctions that have no basis in international law or authorization of the UN Security Council, and is strongly dissatisfied with the UK's relevant actions. On the Ukraine crisis, China has consistently been committed to promoting peace talks and strictly controlling the export of dual-use items. Normal exchanges and cooperation between China and Russia should not be disrupted or affected. China will take necessary measures to firmly safeguard its legitimate and lawful rights and interests."

China always opposes unilateral sanctions lacking a basis in international law or mandate from the UN Security Council, Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Mao Ning said on Wednesday.
Mao made the remarks at a press briefing in Beijing in response to a query about the UK's decision on Tuesday to expand its sanctions list targeting Russia, which added about 250 entities and individuals.
