In cities such as Los Angeles and London, the Chinese film "Scare Out" has drawn both critical acclaim and strong box office returns.
The film's overseas screenings have resonated strongly with overseas Chinese students and expatriates, with many of them describing the experience as both nostalgic and heartwarming.
"For students studying abroad here like us, we really look forward to being able to watch films from our homeland in the UK," said an overseas Chinese student in London.
"It feels like we were back in China watching this film. And I was especially surprised that it got Chinese subtitles," another said.
