Iran's ambassador to the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) on Monday condemned joint U.S.-Israel military operations against Iran, denouncing the attack on the country's nuclear site in Natanz.

Reza Najafi, the ambassador, made the remarks when attending the special session of the IAEA Board of Governors held at the IAEA headquarters in Vienna, Austria.

"Again they attacked Iran's peaceful safeguarded nuclear facilities yesterday. Their justification that Iran wants to develop nuclear weapons is simply a big lie. They martyred our supreme leader who was the only Muslim scholar completely prohibiting nuclear weapons. Lies, deception and misrepresentation has always been a fundamental tool of the U.S. foreign policy," he said.

The United States and Israel on Saturday launched strikes against Iran, plunging the war-torn Middle East into a new round of violent conflicts. Iran has retaliated with a series of counterattacks against Israel and U.S. targets across the region.
