Storyline

Israel on Sunday partially resumed its outbound flights at the Ben Gurion International Airport for the first time since the joint U.S.-Israeli attacks on Iran began on Feb. 28.

At Ben Gurion Airport in Tel Aviv, a limited number of passengers who had managed to secure tickets began departing on flights operated mainly by Israeli airlines. Foreign carriers have not yet resumed outbound services.

Airport departure boards showed only a small number of flights leaving the country, with roughly two departures scheduled per hour and fewer than 20 outbound flights planned for the entire day. Most of the flights were bound for European cities, meaning many passengers would need to travel onward from Europe to reach their final destinations.

"I came here before the war. I just came here (for) tourism. Now I'm going to Georgia then I go to Germany. I don't know... This is the way I need to go, finally," said Puerto Rican tourist Pablo.

On Thursday, the first repatriation flights began to bring home the tens of thousands of Israelis stranded abroad at the Ben Gurion Airport.
