The Lai Ching-te regime's distortion of history, whitewashing of colonial atrocities, and attempt to obstruct the trend of national reunification by hyping Taiwan secessionist view of history will only lead them to doom."

The Lai Ching-te regime's attempt to block national reunification by whitewashing of Taiwan's history of colonization is doomed to fail, Foreign Ministry spokesman Li Jian said at a press briefing in Beijing on Wednesday.

Lin made the remarks in response to a media query about Lai blaring Japan's colonial rule over Taiwan.
