Iran continued to launch strikes against U.S. and Israeli targets as the Middle East conflict entered its third week, with security authorities also arresting what they say are domestic spy groups.
A China Media Group (CMG) reporter based in the Iranian capital, Tehran, reported several sightings of low-altitude drones over the city on Tuesday evening, accompanied by the sound of explosions. Tehran's air defense systems were being activated to intercept incoming threats, the reporter said.
Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said it had launched the 59th wave of its Operation True Promise-4 on Tuesday night, targeting locations across Israel and launching strikes against U.S. military bases in the region using precision-guided missiles, including the Ghadr, Fattah, and Haj Qasem ballistic missile models, along with attack drones
In a statement released on Tuesday, the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) said at around 19:00 on the day, an enemy missile struck the premises of the Bushehr nuclear power plant.
The AEOI said such attacks violate international law and regulations prohibiting military strikes against peaceful nuclear facilities and may lead to irreversible consequences.
No damage to the plant or injuries to staff have been reported.
Iran's security authorities announced on Wednesday morning the arrest of approximately 75 individuals in Alborz province, which neighbors Tehran. The detainees are alleged to have connections with "terrorist groups" and criminal networks opposing Iranian security forces.
In a separate but related development on the same morning, Iran's judicial authorities announced the execution of an individual convicted of spying for Mossad, Israel's intelligence agency.
Iranian political analysts said that following the military operations, the U.S. and Israel are attempting to reactivate disruptive and terrorist elements inside Iran with the goal of sowing social chaos by disturbing public order. However, Iranian authorities are actively managing the internal situation to prevent such unrest, according to the political analysts.
