Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi reaffirmed on Wednesday that the country's stance on the peaceful use of nuclear energy remains unchanged.
Araghchi stated that Iran has consistently sought to exercise its rights to develop nuclear energy for peaceful purposes. While Iranian Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei has yet to articulate his position on the matter, the Foreign Minister expressed his belief that Iran's overarching nuclear policy is unlikely to see significant changes.
Regarding the Strait of Hormuz, Araghchi said that after the war, the coastal countries should draft new agreements for ships passing through it to ensure safe and smooth routes, but only if Iranian and regional interests are met.
He further underscored that while the neighboring countries were disturbed by Iran's strike on nearby U.S. military bases, the United States bears full responsibility for the escalation, as it was the U.S. that instigated the conflict and mired the region in its current turmoil.
On Feb. 28, Israel and the United States launched joint attacks on Tehran and several other Iranian cities, killing Iran's Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, along with senior military commanders and civilians. Iran responded by launching waves of missile and drone strikes targeting Israel and U.S. bases and assets in the Middle East.
