"The outline of the 15th Five-Year Plan is not only a new blueprint for China's development, but also a new opportunity for the world's development. This opportunity precisely stems from the certainty contained in the 15th Five-Year Plan. Five years from now, China's total economic output is expected to reach 170 trillion yuan (about 24.68 trillion U.S. dollars). The economic growth over these five years is projected to exceed 30 trillion yuan. This will create even greater space for deepening economic and trade cooperation between China and other countries."

China will continue to embrace free trade, advance high-standard opening up, and work with other countries to enlarge the global economic and trade pie, Premier Li Qiang said Sunday in his keynote speech at the opening ceremony of the China Development Forum 2026.
Themed "China in its 15th Five-Year Plan Period: Advancing High-Quality Development and Creating New Opportunities Together", the two-day event convenes global business leaders and scholars to explore shared opportunities emerging from China's pursuit of high-quality growth.
Addressing the forum, Li underscored China's steadfast commitment to multilateral cooperation amid escalating geopolitical tensions and rising protectionism.
"China will continue to embrace free trade, firmly advance high-standard opening up, and work with other countries to enlarge the global economic and trade pie. China's import and export activities constitute fair trade conducted within the framework of rules. China also pays close attention to the concerns of our trading partners and stands ready to work with all parties to promote optimized and balanced development of trade," said Li.
Since its inception in 2000, the forum has served as a premier platform for dialogue among Chinese policymakers, global business leaders, international organizations, and leading academics.
This year's gathering carries particular significance as it marks the inaugural year of China's 15th Five-Year Plan (2026-2030), a strategic roadmap guiding China's development over the next five years.
Li noted that China's development will not pose a threat to the world, but will instead continue to provide certainties.
This will create even greater space for deepening economic and trade cooperation between China and other countries," said Li.
The outline of the 15th Five-Year Plan for national economic and social development was approved at the fourth session of the 14th National People's Congress, China's national legislature, earlier this month.
