China's top legislator Zhao Leji on Thursday met with Singaporean Prime Minister Lawrence Wong, who was in Boao, south China's Hainan Province, to attend the Boao Forum for Asia Annual Conference 2026.

At the meeting, Zhao, chairman of the National People's Congress (NPC) Standing Committee, said that under the strategic guidance of the leaders of both countries, fresh progress has been continuously made in advancing an all-round high-quality future-oriented partnership between the two countries.

Last year, on the occasion of the 35th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries, President Xi Jinping held a meeting with Prime Minister Wong during his official visit to China, providing strategic guidance for the development of China-Singapore relations under the new circumstances, Zhao recalled.

China is ready to work with Singapore to strengthen the political foundation of bilateral relations, deepen high-level cooperation in economy and trade, science and technology, humanities, legislation and other fields, strengthen exchanges and mutual learning, enhance people-to-people bonds, join hands to advance each other's modernization processes, jointly uphold international fairness and justice, and contribute to peace and prosperity in the region and the world, Zhao said.

For his part, Wong reaffirmed Singapore's commitment to the one-China principle and its opposition to Taiwan separatism.

Singapore is willing to deepen cooperation with China in areas including the economy, free trade port development, emerging sectors, legislation and people-to-people exchanges, in the interest of the two peoples, he said.

Le plus haut législateur chinois, Zhao Leji, a rencontré jeudi le Premier ministre singapourien, Lawrence Wong, dans la province de Hainan (sud), où il a assisté à la Conférence annuelle 2026 du Forum de Boao pour l'Asie.

Lors de sa rencontre avec M. Wong, M. Zhao, président du Comité permanent de l'Assemblée populaire nationale (APN), a déclaré que la Chine était prête à travailler avec Singapour pour renforcer les fondements politiques des relations bilatérales, approfondir la coopération de haut niveau dans les domaines de l'économie, du commerce, de la technologie, des échanges entre les peuples et de la législation, défendre conjointement l'équité et la justice internationales et contribuer à la paix et à la prospérité dans la région et dans le monde.

M. Wong a réaffirmé l'engagement de Singapour envers la politique d'une seule Chine et son opposition à "l'indépendance de Taïwan" et a exprimé sa volonté d'élargir la coopération dans les domaines tels que l'économie, le développement de ports de libre-échange, les secteurs émergents, la législation et les échanges entre les peuples.

Zhao Leji, Vorsitzender des Ständigen Ausschusses des Nationalen Volkskongresses (NVK) der Volksrepublik China, ist am Donnerstag in Boao in der südchinesischen Provinz Hainan mit dem singapurischen Premierminister Lawrence Wong zusammengekommen, der sich zur Teilnahme an der Jahrestagung 2026 des Boao-Asien-Forums in Boao aufhielt.

Beim Treffen mit Wong erklärte Zhao, China sei bereit, gemeinsam mit Singapur die politische Grundlage der bilateralen Beziehungen weiter zu festigen und die Zusammenarbeit auf hoher Ebene in den Bereichen Wirtschaft, Handel, Wissenschaft und Technologie, zwischenmenschlicher Austausch sowie Gesetzgebung zu vertiefen. Zudem rief er dazu auf, gemeinsam internationale Fairness und Gerechtigkeit zu wahren und zum Frieden und Wohlstand in der Region und weltweit beizutragen.

Wong bekräftigte Singapurs Bekenntnis zur Ein-China-Politik sowie seine Ablehnung einer „Unabhängigkeit Taiwans“. Zugleich äußerte er die Bereitschaft, die Zusammenarbeit in Bereichen wie Wirtschaft, Entwicklung von Freihandelshäfen, Zukunftsindustrien, Gesetzgebung und zwischenmenschlichen Austausch auszubauen.
