Thousands rallied in Washington on Saturday against U.S.-Israeli strikes on Iran, denouncing the escalation and demanding an immediate halt to the war.

Protesters marched from surrounding areas into downtown Washington, converging on the National Mall outside the Capitol. They condemned the U.S.-Israeli strikes on Iran as unnecessary and warned the actions would backfire.

"Sending billions of dollars for what? I don't know. People in Gaza are suffering and being treated like dirt. People in Iran, all the innocent people being killed," said Danny, a protester at the rally.

Among the demonstrators was David, a U.S. veteran, who called the strikes on Iran unjust and warned the United States is heading down a dangerous path. He said the war will drag on without winners, with ripple effects that will burden the international community for years.

"A lot of people realize, the people in uniform who feel that this is not our war, this is not a war that's winnable, begun to see the consequences. These disruptions are going to take decades to overcome. Already we are destabilizing the global economy," he said.

The protests followed joint U.S.-Israeli strikes on Tehran and other Iranian cities on Feb. 28, which killed Iran’s former Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei along with senior commanders and civilians.

Miles de manifestantes se congregaron el sábado en Washington D.C. para protestar contra los ataques militares estadounidenses e israelíes contra Irán y exigir el cese inmediato del conflicto.

Los manifestantes se desplazaron desde los suburbios de la capital estadounidense hasta el centro de Washington, para finalmente congregarse en la Explanada Nacional, frente al Capitolio. Los manifestantes argumentaron que la acción militar conjunta de Estados Unidos e Israel contra Irán es totalmente innecesaria y advirtieron que, en última instancia, resultará contraproducente para ambos países.

"¿Para qué enviar miles de millones de dólares? No lo sé. La gente en Gaza está sufriendo y siendo tratada como basura. En Irán, están matando a gente inocente", criticó Danny, un manifestante en la concentración.

Entre los manifestantes se encontraba David, un veterano estadounidense, quien calificó las acciones militares contra Irán de fundamentalmente injustas. Advirtió que Estados Unidos está avanzando por un camino peligroso y que esta guerra no terminará fácilmente ni tendrá vencedores. Señaló que las repercusiones del conflicto se sentirán en la comunidad internacional durante los años venideros.

Protestas en repulsa a la guerra han sacado a miles de personas a las calles de muchas ciudades de Estados Unidos, cuando se cumple un mes de la guerra iniciada por Estados Unidos e Israel con una serie de ataques militares conjuntos contra Irán el 28 de febrero, matando al entonces líder supremo de Irán, Alí Jamenei, así como a altos mandos militares y civiles.
