Chinese Vice President Han Zheng met with Speaker of the Portuguese Parliament Jose Pedro Aguiar-Branco in Beijing on Wednesday.

Han said that China stands ready to work with Portugal in following the strategic guidance of the two heads of states, and consolidating high-level mutual trust.

He urged both sides to strengthen cooperation in fields such as clean energy, digital economy, artificial intelligence, and medicine and health, emphasizing on leveraging Macao as a platform to expand cooperation.

Han also called on the two countries to push for China and Europe to maintain their partnership, uphold international solidarity and collaboration, and inject more positive energy to China-Europe cooperation and global peace and development through a stable, mutually beneficial and open China-Portugal relationship.

Noting that Portugal and China enjoy high-level mutual trust, Aguiar-Branco said Portugal appreciates the successful implementation of One Country, Two Systems in Macao, and hopes to further promote bilateral practical cooperation and multilateral communication and collaboration.
