A friendly exchange event between youth of China and the United States was held from Saturday to Sunday in Shijiazhuang City, capital of north China's Hebei Province, to commemorate the 55th anniversary of China-U.S. Ping-Pong Diplomacy.

On April 10, 1971, a U.S. table tennis delegation visited China, breaking the ice for China-U.S. relations, which is remembered as the Ping-Pong Diplomacy.

From Saturday and Sunday, a delegation of more than 200 young athletes, sports professionals and students from the U.S. attended the gathering. They were led by three members of the U.S. table tennis team that first visited China in 1971 -- Judy Hoarfrost, Connie Sweeris and Olga Soltesz.

Attendees at the event took part in sporting and other activities. They also hung wish cards under the ginkgo trees at the Shijiazhuang Foreign Language School to express shared hope for an enduring friendship between the two nations.
