China's AI-powered smart products are catching the spotlight at the 139th China Import and Export Fair, also known as the Canton Fair, which opened its first phase in Guangzhou, the provincial capital of south China's Guangdong, on Wednesday.

This edition of the biannual fair goes beyond traditional categories such as electronics and home appliances, and adds four new sections dedicated to consumer drones, smart wearables, display technologies and agricultural drones.

At the new exhibition zone for smart wearables, many exhibitors have expanded their product lines to include smart wearable devices integrated with artificial intelligence.

These intelligent devices, such as AI glasses and exoskeleton walking aid device, have evolved significantly, shifting from simply displaying data to facilitating effective user interaction.

Meanwhile, the newly launched exhibition zone of display technologies has brought together numerous industry leaders. Featuring innovations from Mini LED to 8K ultra-high definition technology, Chinese cutting-edge technologies and products on display are drawing the eyes of global buyers.

"This is our first time participating in the Canton Fair. We have brought smart interactive panels for education and meetings, as well as our outdoor displays," said Shang Yongjin, a Chinese exhibitor.

China's display technologies have now been widely deployed in high-end TVs and other consumer products, with key performance indicators like brightness and contrast ratio seeing major improvements. The application of quantum dot technology has also greatly improved color reproduction and vibrancy.

Meanwhile, research and development of next-generation display technologies, such as high resolution and low energy consumption, are accelerating, yielding good results continuously. The industry's technological edge is becoming ever more pronounced in the country.

Established in 1957, the Canton Fair is held twice a year in Guangzhou. It is the longest-running of several comprehensive international trade events in China, and has been hailed as the barometer of China's foreign trade.

The first phase of the 139th edition of the Canton Fair is scheduled to run from April 15 to 19.
