Overseas exhibitors and purchasers are exploring new business opportunities at the ongoing sixth China International Consumer Products Expo (CICPE) in Haikou City, south China's tropical island province of Hainan.

Talking to China Media Group (CMG) in separate interviews on Wednesday, several participants voiced their confidence in the Chinese market, and expressed their willingness to expand operation in Hainan.

"I love this place and I love Hainan. I'd like to do some business here in Hainan. To tell you the truth, I already have a tourism company here. So I'm trying to find something interesting for them, for my tourism [company]," said a purchaser from the Netherlands.

Clinic Lemanic, a prominent medical institution based in Lausanne, Switzerland, is eying Hainan's potential of becoming an international medical service hub.

"We were here already two years ago and that was a very good experience. Because the experience was good, there were good quality [cooperation], we decided to come here this year again. We have a project for hospital. It would be a good destination to come because of the weather, but also because of the quality, because now a lot of good high end clinics will come here to install themselves, and that's going to be a good point to be here," said the clinic's General Director Darrell Jacobs.

An exhibitor from Uzbekistan hailed the expo as one of the best of this year.

"Actually, this is one of the best expos in the year. We have been preparing for this almost nine or 10 months ahead, trying to present the good products and extend our market in the Hainan Island," he said.

This year's CICPE, running from April 13 to 18, is the first national-level consumer expo since the launch of island-wide special customs operations in the Hainan Free Trade Port in December 2025.

More than 3,400 brands from over 60 countries and regions are participating in the expo, making it a truly international platform for premium consumer goods.

Since its launch in 2021, the expo has become an important platform for multinationals to stay abreast of consumer trends in China's vast market, with over 3,800 enterprises and more than 12,000 brands from 92 countries and regions participating over the past five editions.
