Brunei's Crown Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah arrived in Beijing on Monday for a five-day official visit to China at the invitation of Vice President Han Zheng.

The crown prince, who also serves as senior minister at Brunei's Prime Minister's Office, was welcomed at the airport by Chinese Vice Foreign Minister Hua Chunying.

The visit comes as China and Brunei mark the 35th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations.

China and Brunei are friendly neighbors and strategic partners. Since the establishment of diplomatic ties in 1991, the two countries have maintained close political trust and expanded cooperation in trade, energy, infrastructure and people-to-people exchanges.

China is one of Brunei's largest trading partners, and major projects such as the Hengyi petrochemical complex have become symbols of mutually beneficial cooperation between the two countries.

In 2023, the two countries agreed to build a China-Brunei community with a shared future, opening a new chapter in bilateral relations.
