Iran has requested that two cases concerning an attack on an elementary school in its southern city of Minab in February this year be referred to the International Criminal Court (ICC), according to a report by the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) on Sunday.
The report stated that a representative of the International Association of Lawyers (UIA) said two lawsuits, one domestic and one international, have been filed in connection with a U.S. missile strike on the Shajarah Tayyebeh elementary school in Minab on February 28, which killed over 160 people, mostly children. The representative noted that Iran is seeking to have the cases reviewed by the ICC.
The U.S. missile strike has drawn widespread international condemnation, IRNA reported, as Iranian officials described the attack as a war crime.
