Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Israel Katz on Monday said in a joint statement that they had ordered the military to strike Beirut's southern suburbs.
According to the statement made in a social media post from the official account of the Office of the Prime Minister of Israel, the order was given following "repeated Hezbollah violations of the ceasefire" in Lebanon, including rocket and drone attacks targeting northern Israeli cities.
The Israeli military's Arabic-language spokesperson, Avichay Adraee, issued evacuation warnings for several villages in southern Lebanon, instructing residents to evacuate at least a kilometer away from the villages.
The Israel Defense Forces said that throughout Monday morning, Hezbollah continued to launch rockets and drones towards northern Israel, some of which were successfully intercepted, while others fell in open areas without casualties.
Lebanon's Public Health Emergency Operations Center said on Sunday that the cumulative toll from Israeli attacks since March 2 has reached 3,412 killed and 10,269 wounded.
