Chinese Vice President Han Zheng met with visiting Brazilian Foreign Minister Mauro Vieira in Beijing on Monday to exchange views on deepening all-around piratical cooperation and bilateral ties.

At the meeting, Han said that under the strategic guidance of Chinese President Xi Jinping and Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, the building of the China-Brazil community with a shared future has been steadily and continuously advanced.

China has always viewed and developed its relations with Brazil from a strategic and long-term perspective, and stands ready to work with Brazil to implement the important consensus reached by the two heads of state, promote high-level strategic cooperation between the two countries, and demonstrate the sense of responsibility as major countries in safeguarding the interests of developing countries and advancing common development, Han said.

Noting that the practical cooperation between China and Brazil features highly complementarity and has strong internal driving forces, Han said both sides should give better play to the role of the relevant mechanisms, such as the China-Brazil High-Level Coordination and Cooperation Committee (COSBAN), to advance bilateral cooperation down a path toward more scientific and technological content, higher added value and greater strategic significance.

For his part, Vieira said political mutual trust between Brazil and China has been further strengthened through interactions between the two heads of state over recent years.

At present, multilateralism is suffering an unprecedented blow, and it is particularly important for Brazil and China to deepen the building of a community with a shared future, he said.

Vieira said Brazil is willing to work with the Chinese side to give full play to the coordinating role of COSBAN and deepen bilateral cooperation in various fields.
