Juggling with words does not whitewash Japan's concrete actions to strengthen and expand its military capabilities, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Mao Ning said at a regular press briefing in Beijing on Wednesday.
Mao made the remarks in response to a media query concerning the comments made by a spokesperson for Japan's Ministry of Defense at a press conference on Tuesday.
"Japan has avoided addressing its militarist invasion and war crimes, as well as its obligations under international law. To this day, Japan remains unrepentant over its dark history. Now it is deceiving the Japanese public and international community by mixing up concepts—calling overseas deployment 'collective self-defense', buildup of offensive capabilities 'acquiring counter-strike capabilities' and export of lethal weapons 'equipment and technology cooperation'," Mao said.
