Russia said on Wednesday that its forces had intercepted hundreds of Ukrainian drones over the past day, while Ukraine reported strikes against multiple key Russian targets.
The Russian Defense Ministry said in its latest battle report that over the past 24 hours, the Russian forces had struck multiple Ukrainian targets, including storage and launch sites for long-range drones, energy and transportation infrastructure, and temporary deployment sites for Ukrainian troops and foreign mercenaries.
Russian air defense units intercepted several guided aerial bombs, multiple HIMARS rockets, and more than 700 drones launched by Ukrainian forces, according to the battle report.
On the same day, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine said that from Tuesday night into the early morning of Wednesday, its forces targeted key Russian facilities, including port infrastructure and moored vessels, as well as an oil terminal in St. Petersburg and a precision-guided weapons factory in Michurinsk.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said on Wednesday that he is ready to conduct immediate direct talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin, expressing hope that dialogue between the two leaders could help bring the war to an early end.
Zelensky stressed the urgency of such talks, saying that Ukraine will not wait for the United States to resolve other global issues before addressing the Ukrainian crisis. He called for high-level bilateral talks to accelerate the process of ending hostilities.
