Life is gradually returning to normal in General Santos City of the Philippines as relief efforts continue after a 7.8-magnitude earthquake struck southern Philippines on Monday morning.

At least 37 people were killed, and some 500 people were injured in the disaster, authorities said on Tuesday.

At a shopping mall in General Santos City, the entire exterior wall of a parking structure collapsed during the earthquake, crashing onto several tricycles parked in the area and causing severe damage to them.

The mall is one of the larger ones in the area. Walls throughout the building have collapsed to varying degrees, with the internal structure of many sections now exposed.

The mall is currently closed, and given the extent of the damage, it is estimated that it will take a considerable amount of time to resume operations.

Although many facilities remain closed, the bustling atmosphere of the city is gradually returning.

At a public market in General Santos City, vegetable stalls have begun to be set up.

Although electric power has not yet been fully restored in the area, supplies remain relatively abundant, and local residents are coming to the market to shop.

It has been just over a day since the powerful earthquake took place, life in this area is gradually returning to normal.

At a secondhand clothing store in the city, electric power has been restored. The lights are on, and electric fans throughout the market have started operating.

Traffic lights in the city are also fully operational again.

As evening falls, roadside restaurants are lighting up one after another.

The earthquake with a magnitude of 5.4 jolted Mindanao, Philippines at 1649 GMT on Tuesday, the GFZ German Research Centre for Geosciences said.

The epicenter, with a depth of 73.1 km, was initially determined to be at 5.48 degrees north latitude and 125.45 degrees east longitude.

À General Santos, ville du sud des Philippines touchée par un puissant séisme de magnitude 7,8 lundi matin, la vie reprend son cours normal et les opérations de secours se poursuivent.

Les autorités ont annoncé mardi que le tremblement de terre avait causé au moins 37 morts et environ 500 blessés.

Dans un centre commercial de General Santos, le mur extérieur du parking s’est effondré, endommageant plusieurs tricycles. La réouverture du centre commercial, l’un des plus grands de la région, prendra du temps.

تعود الحياة تدريجياً إلى طبيعتها في مدينة جنرال سانتوس بالفلبين مع استمرار جهود الإغاثة عقب الزلزال الذي بلغت قوته 7.8 درجة على مقياس ريختر وضرب جنوب الفلبين صباح يوم الاثنين/ 8 يونيو الجاري.

وأعلنت السلطات يوم الثلاثاء أن الكارثة أسفرت عن مقتل ما لا يقل عن 37 شخصاً وإصابة نحو 500 آخرين.

وفي مركز تجاري بمدينة جنرال سانتوس، انهار الجدار الخارجي لمبنى مواقف السيارات بالكامل أثناء الزلزال، وسقط على عدة دراجات ثلاثية العجلات كانت متوقفة في المنطقة، مما تسبب في أضرار جسيمة بها.

ويعد هذا المركز أحد أكبر المراكز التجارية في المنطقة. وقد انهارت الجدران في جميع أنحاء المبنى بدرجات متفاوتة، وأصبحت الهياكل الداخلية للعديد من الأقسام مكشوفة الآن.

المركز التجاري مغلق حاليًا، وبالنظر إلى حجم الأضرار، يُقدر أن استئناف العمل سيستغرق وقتًا طويلاً.

La ciudad General Santos, en el sur de Filipinas, está recuperando de a poco su dinámica habitual tras el terremoto de magnitud 7,8 que sacudió la región el lunes por la mañana, y dejó al menos 37 muertos.

En el sismo cerca de 500 personas resultaron heridas, informaron el martes las autoridades locales, y señalaron que las labores de rescate aún continúan.

Uno de los centros comerciales más grandes de General Santos resultó gravemente destruido, la fachada exterior de un estacionamiento se derrumbó y cayó sobre varios triciclos que se encontraban estacionados. En sus muros también se observaron distintos grados de daños, y su estructura interna en algunas partes ha quedado expuesta. El centro comercial permanece cerrado y, dada la magnitud de los daños, se estima que tardará tiempo en reanudar sus operaciones.

Aunque muchos comercios siguen sin abrir sus puertas al público, el bullicio característico de la ciudad ha empezado a recuperarse paulatinamente.

En un mercado público de General Santos, los trabajadores de los puestos de verduras han comenzado a reinstalarse, y los productos siguen siendo relativamente abundantes.

Apenas un día tras el terremoto y las actividades parecen volver a la normalidad. Los vecinos ya han empezado a acudir al mercado a realizar sus compras.

Das Leben in der philippinischen Stadt General Santos kehrt allmählich zur Normalität zurück, während die Rettungsarbeiten nach dem Erdbeben der Stärke 7,8, das am Montagmorgen den Süden der Philippinen erschüttert hatte, weiterhin andauern.

Nach Angaben der Behörden kamen bei dem Beben mindestens 37 Menschen ums Leben und weitere 500 wurden verletzt.

In einem Einkaufszentrum in General Santos stürzte während des Erdbebens die gesamte Außenwand eines Parkhauses ein, krachte auf mehrere in der Gegend geparkte Dreiräder und richtete schwere Schäden an ihnen an.

Das Einkaufszentrum ist eines der größeren in der Region. An dem gesamten Gebäude kam es zu Einstürzen der Wände in unterschiedlichem Ausmaß, und an zahlreichen Stellen wurden sogar die inneren Strukturen sichtbar.

Das Einkaufszentrum ist derzeit geschlossen. Angesichts des Ausmaßes der Schäden dürfte die Wiedereröffnung noch länger dauern.
Obwohl viele Einrichtungen weiterhin geschlossen bleiben, kehrt die muntere Atmosphäre der Stadt allmählich zurück.

Auf einem öffentlichen Markt in General Santos haben Gemüsestände bereits wieder geöffnet.

Obwohl die Stromversorgung in der Region noch nicht vollständig wiederhergestellt ist, sind die Vorräte weiterhin relativ reichlich vorhanden und die Einheimischen sind zum Einkaufen auf den Markt gekommen.

In einer Secondhand-Boutique in General Santos konnte die Stromversorgung bereits wiederhergestellt werden, die Lichter sind wieder an, und auch die Ventilatoren im gesamten Markt laufen wieder.

Die Ampeln in der Stadt sind ebenfalls in Betrieb, und in der Abenddämmerung sind erneut die beleuchteten Restaurants am Straßenrand zu sehen - die Stadt kehrt nach der Katastrophe allmählich wieder zur Normalität zurück.
