Iran's Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi and a senior U.S. official respectively said on Friday that the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between the two countries to end the conflict will be possible within the next few days.

In an interview with state-run IRIB TV, Araghchi said that upon finalized, the MoU will be signed digitally by both sides in their respective countries and then announced.

He added that following the potential signing, both parties will commit not to initiating any other war, and will begin the second stage of negotiations, scheduled within a 60-day period, to reach a final agreement, focusing mainly on Iran's nuclear program and sanctions removal.

Araghchi also said in a post on social media platform X on Friday that signing the MoU "has never being closer."

He said pending the MoU's finalization, "the media should refrain from entering speculation about its content."

The post was then reshared by U.S. President Donald Trump on the same day.

Meanwhile multiple U.S. media outlets reported on Friday that a senior U.S. official said that the United States is 80 percent to 85 percent confident of signing an MOU with Iran in the next few days.

The official said the U.S. is confident that Israel will support the MOU.

The official also said that the specific location and date for signing the MOU have not yet been finalized, but U.S. President Donald Trump has previously suggested a European country as the venue, which remains an option.

Switzerland's Federal Department of Foreign Affairs told media on Friday that the country is in close contact with the U.S. and Iran and if all parties agree, Switzerland suggests hosting the signing of the MoU on its territory.

Pakistani Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar will travel to Geneva to further mediate between the U.S. and Iran, an Iranian media outlet reported on Friday citing a source familiar with the matter.

According to the source, Dar's main missions on the travel will include coordinating communications over the potential understanding between the two sides.
