One of the world's largest roll-on/roll-off (ro-ro) vessels, the Glovis Lighthouse, departed from the Xiaomo International Logistics Port in Shenzhen City of south China's Guangdong Province on Friday, carrying over 8,000 new energy vehicles (NEVs) on its maiden voyage to Europe.
This marks a new record for the largest single shipment of Chinese NEVs exported by sea.
The vessel had previously loaded more than 4,000 NEVs at the Shanghai Port. It took on an additional 3,000-plus vehicles at the Xiaomo Port, bringing the total to over 8,000 units.
Measuring 230 meters in length and 40 meters in width, the Glovis Lighthouse features 14 decks of garage space and has a maximum capacity of 10,800 vehicles, twice that of a standard ro-ro ship.
